Compensation order
31.—(1)  The court before which a person is convicted of an offence under this Act may, on application or otherwise, make an order requiring him to pay such compensation, not exceeding $1,000 as the court thinks just, for any loss or damage resulting from that offence to any person who has suffered such loss or damage; and section 403 of the Criminal Procedure Code shall be applicable to any order made under this section.
(2)  A compensation order made under this section shall not prejudice any right to a civil action for the recovery of damages beyond the amount of compensation paid under the order.
