Medical officer for prisons
25.—(1)  The Director of Medical Services shall, whenever the circumstances permit, appoint a medical officer for the prisons.
(2)  If circumstances do not permit the appointment of a medical officer under subsection (1) by the Director of Medical Services, the Minister may appoint any registered medical practitioner to be the medical officer for any particular prison.
(3)  Whenever a medical officer appointed under subsection (1) is, owing to illness or temporary absence or for other sufficient reason, unable to perform his duties, his duties shall be performed by another medical officer appointed in that behalf by the medical officer, or in default of the medical officer by the Superintendent.

25.  The Commissioner shall appoint one or more registered medical practitioners as may be necessary to be medical officers for the prisons.
