An Act to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (1992 Revised Edition) and to make consequential amendments to the Post Office Savings Bank of Singapore Act (Chapter 237 of the 1985 Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment No. 2) Act 1998 and shall come into operation on such date as the President may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of Fifth Schedule
2.  Part I of the Fifth Schedule to the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore is amended by deleting item 6.
Consequential amendments to Post Office Savings Bank of Singapore Act
3.  The Post Office Savings Bank of Singapore Act (Cap. 237) is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “with the President’s concurrence under Article 22A(1)(b) of the Constitution” in the following provisions:
Sections 8(1) and (3), 9 (1) and 12;
(b)by deleting the words “and the President’s concurrence under Article 22A(1)(b) of the Constitution” in section 18(1) and (2)(c); and
(c)by deleting section 9A.
