Civil List and Pension (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Civil List and Pension Act, 1970 (No. 10 of 1970).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title
1.  This Act may be cited as the Civil List and Pension (Amendment) Act, 1970.
New section 10A
2.  The Civil List and Pension Act, 1970, is hereby amended by inserting immediately after section 10 thereof the following new section: —
Pension for widow and children of Presidents and former Presidents
10A.—(1)  Where a President or a former President dies after the date of the coming into operation of the Civil List and Pension (Amendment) Act, 1970, or where he has died before that date, there may be granted, in addition to any gratuity which may be paid under section 10 of this Act, a pension to his widow as well as to his surviving children of such amount or amounts and subject to such terms as Parliament may by resolution determine.
(2)  Any pension granted under the provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall commence on the date of the death of the President or former President.
(3)  Any pension paid to a widow under the provisions of subsection (1) of this section shall cease upon her re-marriage or death.”.
