Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1999
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1)(j) of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower, after consultation with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1999 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st November 1999.
Amendment of regulation 4
2.  Regulation 4 of the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations (Rg 17) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “or” at the end of paragraph (1)(a)(i);
(b)by inserting, at the end of sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (1)(a), the word “or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:
(iii)in a case involving radiotherapy treatment comprising stereotactic radiotherapy for cancer, a sum of $2,800 per treatment subject to a maximum of $3,000 per year per patient in excess of the amount permitted to be withdrawn under sub-paragraph (i) or (ii), as the case may be;”; and
(c)by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:
(2)  The total amount that may be withdrawn by a member —
(a)for the payment of attendance fees of all approved medical practitioners under this regulation shall not exceed $50 for each day a member or his dependant is hospitalised; and
(b)for the payment of any radiotherapy treatment received by him or his dependant under this regulation shall not exceed $3,000 per year per patient.”.
Amendment of regulation 19
3.  Regulation 19 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (1), and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:
(ca)the payment of radiotherapy treatment comprising stereotactic radiotherapy for cancer shall not exceed $2,800 per treatment subject to a maximum of $3,000 per year per patient; and”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:
(3)  Notwithstanding paragraph (1), the total amount that may be withdrawn by a member for the payment of any radiotherapy treatment received by him or his dependant under this regulation shall not exceed $3,000 per year per patient.”.
Amendment of Schedule
4.  The Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after item (d) of paragraph 1, the following item:
(e) Stereotactic radiotherapy for cancer
With effect from 1st November 1999
$2,800 per treatment or the total credit balance in the member’s medisave account, whichever is the lower.
