Employment Act
(Chapter 91)
Employment Act (Amendment of First Schedule) Notification 2008
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 140 of the Employment Act, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, hereby makes the following Notification:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Employment Act (Amendment of First Schedule) Notification 2008 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2009.
Deletion and substitution of First Schedule
2.  The First Schedule to the Employment Act is deleted and the following Schedule substituted therefor:
“FIRST SCHEDULE
Section 2
Workmen
(1)  Cleaners.
(2)  Construction workers.
(3)  Labourers.
(4)  Machine operators and assemblers.
(5)  Metal and machinery workers.
(6)  Train, bus, lorry and van drivers.
(7)  Train and bus inspectors.
(8)  All workmen employed on piece rates in the premises of the employer.”.

Made this 23rd day of December 2008.
