Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Driving Licences) (Amendment) Rules 1998
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 48 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Driving Licences) (Amendment) Rules 1998 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1998.
Amendment of rule 21
2.  Rule 21 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Driving Licences) Rules (R 27) is amended —
(a)by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraphs:
(1)  If the holder of a licence satisfies the Deputy Commissioner of Police that his licence has been lost or defaced, the Deputy Commissioner shall on payment of the following fee issue a replacement licence:
(a)for a first replacement of the licence
$20
(b)for a second and every subsequent replacement of the licence
$50
(1A)  The replacement licence issued under paragraph (1) shall have the same effect as the original.”; and
(b)by deleting the words “duplicate licence” in the first line of paragraph (2) and substituting the words “replacement licence”.
