(Amendment of First Schedule)
Order 2016

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5(1) of the Financial Advisers Act, the Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies, Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who is charged with the responsibility for the portfolio of the Prime Minister as regards financial advisers, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order is the Financial Advisers Act (Amendment of First Schedule) Order 2016 and comes into operation on 30 September 2016.

Amendment of First Schedule

2. Paragraph 1 of the First Schedule to the Financial Advisers Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting sub-paragraph (a) and substituting the following sub-paragraphs:

“(a)	advocate and solicitor;
(aa)	Singapore law practice, Joint Law Venture, Formal Law Alliance or Qualifying Foreign Law Practice, as defined in section 2(1) of the Legal Profession Act (Cap. 161); or”; and

(b)

by deleting the words “his legal or accounting practice” and substituting the words “the practice of law or accounting”.
