Immigration (Amendment)
Regulations 2016

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 55(1) of the Immigration Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations are the Immigration (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and come into operation on 1 January 2017.

Amendment of regulation 3

2. Regulation 3 of the Immigration Regulations (Rg 1) is amended by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(2) An applicant for a Singapore visa must submit to all reasonable steps for the taking or recording of any personal identifier required from the applicant under paragraph (1)(c).”.

Amendment of regulation 12

3. Regulation 12 of the Immigration Regulations is amended by deleting paragraphs (5A), (8A) and (8B).

Amendment of regulation 14

4. Regulation 14(1A) of the Immigration Regulations is amended by deleting the words “(Work Pass Exemptions) Notification 2007 (G.N. No. S 345/2007)” in sub‑paragraph (b) and substituting the words “(Work Pass Exemptions for Seamen and Full‑time Students) Notification (N 2)”.

Deletion and substitution of regulation 22A

5. Regulation 22A of the Immigration Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:

“Taking or recording of personal identifiers

22A.—(1) A person who applies for a permit or a pass must provide any personal identifier that the Controller requires from that person.

(2) The following persons must provide any personal identifier that an immigration officer or a police officer requires from them:

(a)	a person who has been issued with a pass or a permit;
(b)	a person who is suspected, or has been convicted, of an offence under section 5, 6(1), 15 or 36 of the Act or these Regulations;
(c)	a prohibited immigrant.

(3) Any person who has to provide a personal identifier under paragraph (1) or (2) must submit to all reasonable steps for the taking or recording of the personal identifier.”.
