Road Traffic Act
(CHAPTER 276)
Road Traffic (Amendment) Rules 2015
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.   These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Amendment) Rules 2015 and shall come into operation on 1 February 2015.
Amendment of rule 33
2.  Rule 33 of the Road Traffic Rules (R 20) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “Minister” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “Deputy Commissioner of Police”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraphs:
(2A)  Once a type of portable warning sign is approved by the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the purposes of paragraph (1), he must, as soon as practicable, cause to be published in the Gazette a notification specifying each type of portable warning sign so approved by him.
(2B)  However, failure to comply with paragraph (2A) in respect of any type of portable warning sign does not invalidate the approval for that type of portable warning sign.”.
Deletion of rule 34
3.  Rule 34 of the principal Rules is deleted.
Deletion and substitution of rule 37
4.  Rule 37 of the principal Rules is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:
Prescribed breath alcohol analyser
37.  For the purposes of sections 70 and 71A of the Act, the prescribed breath alcohol analyser is the Lion Intoxilyser 8000 SI.”.
Deletion of Schedule
5.  The Schedule to the principal Rules is deleted.
Savings provision
6.  Any portable warning sign of a type approved by the Minister for Home Affairs under rule 34 of the principal Rules as in force immediately before 1 February 2015 shall, on and after that date, be treated as a portable warning sign of a type approved by the Deputy Commissioner of Police under rule 33(1) of the principal Rules as amended by rule 2(a).
