(Chapter 36)
Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1)(j) of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower, after consulting with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2006.
Amendment of regulation 4
2.  Regulation 4 of the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations (Rg 17) is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “Where” in the 1st line of paragraph (1) and substituting the words “Subject to paragraph (2), where”;
(b)by deleting the words “a sum of $300 per day” in paragraph (1)(a)(i) and (ii) and substituting in each case the words “the relevant sum”; and
(c)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (1), the following paragraph:
(1A)  For the purposes of paragraph (1)(a), the relevant sum is —
(a)$300 if the member or dependant was admitted to the approved hospital before 1st April 2006; or
(b)$400 if the member or dependant was admitted to the approved hospital on or after 1st April 2006.”.
Amendment of regulation 13A
3.  Regulation 13A of the Central Provident Fund (Medisave Account Withdrawals) Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “a sum of $300 per day” in paragraph (2)(a)(ii) (A) and substituting the words “the relevant sum”;
(b)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:
(2A)  For the purposes of paragraph (2)(a)(ii) (A), the relevant sum is —
(a)$300 if the female member or dependant was admitted to the approved hospital before 1st April 2006; or
(b)$400 if the female member or dependant was admitted to the approved hospital on or after 1st April 2006.”;
(c)by deleting the words “paragraph (2)(a)(ii) (A)” in paragraph (3) and substituting the words “paragraph (2)”; and
(d)by deleting paragraph (6) and substituting the following paragraph:
(6)  The total amount that may be withdrawn by a member under paragraph (5) for the payment of attendance fees of all approved medical practitioners who treated the member or dependant, as the case may be, on the day she underwent the day surgical treatment shall not exceed $30.”.
