Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) (Amendment) Rules 2008
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 90 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) (Amendment) Rules 2008 and shall come into operation on 20th October 2008.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) Rules (R 21) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by inserting, immediately after the definition of “authorisation”, the following definitions:
“ “CNG system” and “CNG vehicle” shall have the same meanings as in the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5);”.
Amendment of First Schedule
3.  The First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “and” at the end of paragraph (k); and
(b)by deleting the full-stop at the end of paragraph (l) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:
(m)the requirements of rules 42 and 48 of the Rules in so far as they relate to the CNG system of the CNG vehicle, and rules 45D and 45E of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5).”.
Amendment of Third Schedule
4.  The Third Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the definition of “braking requirements” in paragraph 1 of Part I, the following definition:
“ “CNG system requirements” means the prescribed statutory requirements specified in paragraph (m) of the First Schedule;”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after Part XI, the following Part:
Part XII
Cng System Requirements
28.  The examination of a CNG vehicle to ascertain whether the CNG system requirements are complied with shall be carried out in accordance with this Part.
29.  The CNG vehicle shall be examined to ascertain whether —
(a)the CNG identification markings and CNG system information marking comply with the CNG system requirements in so far as they relate to such markings;
(b)the components of the CNG system and the mounting thereof are in a good and effective condition; and
(c)there is any leakage in the CNG system.”.
