(Amendment No. 2) Rules 2013

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 48 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Driving Licences) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2013 and shall come into operation on 1st June 2013.

Amendment of rule 9

2. Rule 9(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Driving Licences) Rules (R 27) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (c)(ii); and

(b)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (d) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:

“(e)	that he has attended and successfully completed a training programme known as the “Expressway Familiarisation Ride” conducted by a licensed driving school after passing the Practical Riding Test referred to in sub-paragraph (d).”.

Amendment of rule 22

3. Rule 22(3) of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by inserting, at the end of sub-paragraph (c), the word “and”;
(b)	by deleting sub-paragraph (d); and
(c)	by deleting the words “if he is a holder of any provisional licence other than a Class 2B provisional licence,” in sub-paragraph (e).

Amendment of Second Schedule

4. The Second Schedule to the principal Rules is amended by deleting the Schedule reference and substituting the following Schedule reference:

“Rules 5(3) and 9(1)(d) and (2)(e)”.

Deletion of Eighth Schedule

5. The Eighth Schedule to the principal Rules is deleted.
