Public Order (Election Meetings
in Parliamentary Elections)
(Amendment No. 2)
Regulations 2017
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 47 of the Public Order Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Public Order (Election Meetings in Parliamentary Elections) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2017 and come into operation on 1 October 2017.
Amendment of regulation 3
2.  Regulation 3 of the Public Order (Election Meetings in Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2009 (G.N. No. S 486/2009) is amended by deleting the full‑stop at the end of the definition of “polling day” and substituting a semi‑colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following definition:
“ “special notice” means the special notice of intention to organise an event, required by section 6A of the Act.”.
New regulation 11
3.  The Public Order (Election Meetings in Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2009 are amended by inserting, immediately after regulation 10, the following regulation:
Special notice of election meeting
11.—(1)  For the purposes of section 6A(1) of the Act, special notice of an election meeting must be given to the Commissioner together with the advance notice in the same manner mentioned in regulation 5(1).
(2)  Special notice of an election meeting must be in the form approved by the Commissioner.
(3)  For the purposes of section 6A(1) of the Act, special notice of an election meeting must contain the following information:
(a)the name, address, telephone number of the organiser of the election meeting, and the identity card number of the individual who is the organiser or representing the organiser;
(b)the name of the election meeting;
(c)an estimate of the maximum number of participants at any time during the election meeting;
(d)the location of the election meeting;
(e)the date and time when the election meeting will start and end;
(f)a brief description of the programme for the election meeting.”.
