Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 29 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules 1997 and shall come into operation on 7th April 1997.
New rule 16A
2.  The Registration of Births and Deaths Rules (R 1) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 16, the following rule:
Coroner’s certificate
16A.  The supervising deputy registrar or a deputy registrar who receives a Coroner’s certificate under section 21(1) of the Act shall record the particulars of the death in the register of death in the Form H set out in the Schedule with such modification as he may think necessary.”.
Amendment of rule 25
3.  Rule 25 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “in the Form L or M set out in the Schedule, respectively” and substituting the words “made in such manner and form as the Registrar‑General may require”.
Amendment of Schedule
4.  The Schedule to the principal Rules is amended by deleting Forms L and M.
