Road Traffic
(Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing)
(Amendment No. 3) Rules 2013
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2013 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 7th March 2013.
Amendment of rule 25
2.  Rule 25 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) is amended —
(a)by deleting sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (5) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
(c)at the expiration of the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (b), extend the period of registration of the vehicle in the name of the firm or company for a further period of 3 months upon the payment of —
(i)a fee of $90, if the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (b) expired on or after 25th May 2009 but before 24th February 2011; or
(ii)a fee of $60, if the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (b) expires on or after 7th March 2013,”;
(b)by inserting, immediately after the words “25th May 2010” in paragraph (5A)(b), the words “but before 8th June 2012”; and
(c)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (10), the following paragraph:
(11)  The Registrar may, in his discretion and subject to such conditions as he thinks fit, waive in whole or in part any fee referred to in paragraph (4)(ii) or (5).”.
Amendment of rule 26
3.  Rule 26 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (2) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
(c)at the expiration of the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (b), extend the period of registration of the vehicle in the name of the firm or company or insurer for a further period of 3 months upon the payment of —
(i)a fee of $90, if the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (b) expired on or after 25th May 2009 but before 24th February 2011; or
(ii)a fee of $60, if the 3-month period referred to in sub-paragraph (b) expires on or after 7th March 2013,”;
(b)by inserting, immediately after the words “25th May 2010” in paragraph (2A)(b), the words “but before 8th June 2012”; and
(c)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (4), the following paragraph:
(5)  The Registrar may, in his discretion and subject to such conditions as he thinks fit, waive in whole or in part any fee referred to in paragraph (1)(ii) or (2).”.
