Women’s Charter (Mediation and Counselling)
(Prescribed Persons) (Amendment) Rules 2014
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 50(3A) and 180(1) of the Women’s Charter, the Minister for Social and Family Development hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Women’s Charter (Mediation and Counselling) (Prescribed Persons) (Amendment) Rules 2014 and shall come into operation on 1 October 2014.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2 of the Women’s Charter (Mediation and Counselling) (Prescribed Persons) Rules 2011 (G.N. No. S 535/2011) is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:
(1)  The class of persons prescribed under section 50(3A) of the Act comprises both parties to any proceedings under Part X of the Act commenced in respect of the parties’ marriage, in any case where —
(a)the proceedings are commenced on or after 26 September 2011 but before 1 July 2013, and the parties have at least one child of the marriage who is below the age of 8 years at the time the proceedings are commenced;
(b)the proceedings are commenced on or after 1 July 2013 but before 1 October 2014, and the parties have at least one child of the marriage who is below the age of 14 years at the time the proceedings are commenced; or
(c)the proceedings are commenced on or after 1 October 2014, and the parties have at least one child of the marriage who is below the age of 21 years at the time the proceedings are commenced.”.
