Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 6) Rules 2003
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 6) Rules 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st September 2003.
Amendment of rule 39
2.  Rule 39(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) is amended by deleting sub-paragraphs (d) and (e) and substituting the following sub-paragraphs:
(d)a vehicle which has at any time been issued with an omnibus licence under the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules and —
(i)in a case where the omnibus licence is issued before 1st September 2003, is more than 15 years old on that date; or
(ii)in any other case, is more than 17 years old;
(e)a vehicle which has at any time been issued with a taxi licence under the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules and —
(i)in a case where the taxi licence is issued before 1st September 2003, is more than 7 years old on that date; or
(ii)in any other case, is more than 8 years old;”.
Amendment of First Schedule
3.  The First Schedule to the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting item (4) of Part VIII and substituting the following items:
(4) Exceeding 7 years but not exceeding 8 years

(5) Exceeding 8 years
 
Nil.

(b)by deleting item (4) of Part IX and substituting the following items:
(4) Exceeding 7 years but not exceeding 8 years
 
60%;
(5) Exceeding 8 years
 
Nil.
