Passports Act
(Amendment of Schedule)
Order 2016

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(2) of the Passports Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order is the Passports Act (Amendment of Schedule) Order 2016 and comes into operation on 1 January 2017.

Amendment of Schedule

2. The Schedule to the Passports Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting item 1 and substituting the following item:

“1. A person’s fingerprint or handprint (taken using paper and ink, digital scanning technologies or otherwise).”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after item 3, the following item:

“4. An image of a person’s iris (taken using iris scanning technologies).”.
