Immigration (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1998

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 55(1) of the Immigration Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 1998 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 2nd February 1998.

Amendment of regulation 11

2. Regulation 11 of the Immigration Regulations (Rg 1) is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) A dependant’s pass may be issued by the Controller to any person, other than a prohibited immigrant being the spouse or dependent child of the holder of a valid employment pass or work permit pass to enable the spouse or child to accompany or join the holder and to remain with the holder in Singapore.”;

(b)

by deleting the words “husband or father” in the ninth and tenth lines of paragraph (2) and substituting the words “spouse or parent”; and

(c)

by deleting the words “husband or father” in paragraph (4)(c) and substituting the words “spouse or parent”.

Amendment of First Schedule

3. The First Schedule to the Immigration Regulations is amended by deleting the words “husband/father” in sub-paragraph (vi) under the heading “SINGAPORE IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS DEPENDANT’S PASS” in Form 13 and substituting the words “spouse/parent”.
