(Chapter 36)
Central Provident Fund (Minimum Sum Topping-up Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1) of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Minister for Manpower, after consulting with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Minimum Sum Topping-Up Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2006.
New regulation 1A
2.  The Central Provident Fund (Minimum Sum Topping-Up Scheme) Regulations (Rg 3) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) are amended by inserting, immediately after regulation 1, the following regulation:
Application
1A.—(1)  These Regulations shall apply to the maintenance of a minimum sum, and the transfer or payment of moneys into a retirement account, under section 18(1) of the Act.
(2)  For the avoidance of doubt, these Regulations do not apply to any transfer or payment of moneys into a retirement account under section 18(2) of the Act.”.
Amendment of regulation 3
3.  Regulation 3 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “section 18 (a)” and substituting the words “section 18 (1) (a)”.
Deletion and substitution of regulation 4
4.  Regulation 4 of the principal Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:
Voluntary maintenance of minimum sum and payment of moneys into parent’s, grandparent’s or spouse’s retirement account
4.—(1)  Any person, whether a member of the Fund or otherwise, who wishes —
(a)to voluntarily maintain a minimum sum with the Board under section 18(1)(b) of the Act; or
(b)to pay money into his parent’s, grandparent’s or spouse’s retirement account under section 18(1)(c) of the Act,
shall make an application to the Board in such form and supported by such evidence as the Board may require.
(2)  The Board may grant the application made under paragraph (1) subject to such terms and conditions as the Board may impose.”.
