Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Vocational Licences and Conduct of Drivers, Conductors and Passengers) (Amendment No.2) Rules 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 111 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Vocational Licences and Conduct of Drivers, Conductors and Passengers) (Amendment No.2) Rules 2000 and shall come into operation on 2nd January 2001.

Amendment of rule 4

2. Rule 4 of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Vocational Licences and Conduct of Drivers, Conductors and Passengers) Rules (R 8) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “and” at the end of paragraph (2)(a);

(b)

by deleting the words “two recent photographs” in paragraph (2)(b) and substituting the words “one recent photograph”;

(c)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (2) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:

“(c)	accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $20 which shall be payable in respect of the application.”; and

(d)

by deleting paragraph (3).

Amendment of rule 5

3. Rule 5 (2) of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting sub-paragraph (d) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(d)

in the case of an application for a licence to be a driver of a taxi —

(i)	evidence that the applicant holds a valid driving licence to drive Class 3 vehicles for more than a year; and
(ii)	a certificate of completion of such course of instruction as the Registrar may, in his discretion, approve; and”; and

(b)

by deleting the words “sub-paragraphs (b) and (d)” in the 3rd and 4th lines of sub-paragraph (e) and substituting the words “sub-paragraphs (a) to (d)”.

Amendment of rule 9

4. Rule 9 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “prescribed fee” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “fee prescribed in rule 7 (1)”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “a taxi driver’s refresher course conducted by the Registrar” in paragraph (3) and substituting the words “such taxi driver’s refresher course as the Registrar may, in his discretion, approve”. [G.N. Nos. S 586/91; S 335/93;S 242/94; S 84/95; S 270/2000]
