Central Provident Fund Act
(Chapter 36)
Central Provident Fund (Revised Minimum Sum Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2003
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1)(o) of the Central Provident Fund Act, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State, Ministry of Education, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Revised Minimum Sum Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into operation on 9th December 2003.
Amendment of regulation 9
2.  Regulation 9 of the Central Provident Fund (Revised Minimum Sum Scheme) Regulations (Rg 2) is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (4), the following paragraphs:
(5)  Notwithstanding paragraph (1), the Board may, subject to such terms and conditions as it may impose, allow a member to be paid monthly from the minimum sum deposited in his retirement account, an amount exceeding the specified monthly payment referred to in that paragraph.
(6)  The Board shall not, under paragraph (5), allow a member to be paid an amount exceeding the specified monthly payment unless it is satisfied that the member has a serious and chronic medical condition.
(7)  Notwithstanding paragraph (3), the Board may, subject to such terms and conditions as it may impose, allow a surviving or divorced member or spouse referred to in that paragraph to be paid monthly from the minimum sum maintained by the member or spouse in his or her retirement account, an amount exceeding the amount computed in accordance with the formula set out in that paragraph.
(8)  The Board shall not, under paragraph (7), allow a member or his spouse to be paid an amount exceeding the amount computed in accordance with the formula specified in paragraph (3) unless it is satisfied that the member or his spouse, as the case may be, has a serious and chronic medical condition.”.
