Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) (Amendment) Rules 2010

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10A(4) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) (Amendment) Rules 2010 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2010.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules (R 31) is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “company”, the following definition:

“ “diesel-electric car” means a motor car which uses either or both diesel and electricity as its source of power;”;

(b)

by deleting the definition of “hybrid car”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “light goods vehicle”, the following definition:

“ “petrol-electric car” means a motor car which uses either or both petrol and electricity as its source of power;”.

Amendment of rule 3

3. Rule 3 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “hybrid cars” in paragraph (1)(a)(iv) and (b)(iv) and substituting in each case the words “petrol-electric cars”;
(b)	by deleting the words “hybrid cars” in paragraph (1)(a)(v) and (b)(v) and substituting in each case the words “petrol-electric cars and diesel-electric cars”; and
(c)	by deleting the words “or a hybrid car” in paragraph (3) and substituting the words “, a petrol-electric car or a diesel-electric car”. [G.N. Nos.
