Merchant Shipping
(Registration of Ships)
(Amendment) Regulations 2020
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45 of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 and come into operation on 1 July 2020.
New regulation 1A
2.  The Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) Regulations (Rg 7) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations) are amended by inserting, immediately after regulation 1, the following regulation:
Application of these Regulations
1A.—(1)  These Regulations do not apply to any pleasure craft.
(2)  Regulations 3, 4 and 5 do not apply to any ship, tug or barge registered before 28 September 1981.”.
Deletion of regulation 6
3.  Regulation 6 of the principal Regulations is deleted.
Deletion of Part V
4.  Part V of the principal Regulations is deleted.
Amendment of regulation 39
5.  Regulation 39 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “, 15(1) or (2), 18 or 20(1)” and substituting the words “or 15(1) or (2)”.
Amendment of Schedule
6.  The Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by deleting Forms 1A and 2D.
