Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) (Amendment) Order 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 54 of the Medicines Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order may be cited as the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) (Amendment) Order 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st June 1997.
Deletion and substitution of paragraph 4
2.  Paragraph 4 of the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) Order 1996 (G.N. No. S 272/96) is deleted and the following paragraph substituted therefor:
Cosmetic products subject to provisions of Act
4.—(1)  For the purposes of section 54 of the Act, cosmetic products are substances appearing to the Minister to be substances which are not medicinal products but which are manufactured, sold, supplied, imported or exported for use wholly or partly as a cosmetic.
(2)  Subject to the exceptions and modifications specified in the second column of Part I of the Second Schedule, the provisions of the Act set out in the first column of that Part shall have effect in relation to such description or class of cosmetic products specified in the third column of that Part as those provisions have effect in relation to medicinal products.”.
Amendment of Second Schedule
3.  Item 2 of Part I of the Second Schedule to the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) (Specification and Prohibition) Order 1996 is deleted and the following item substituted therefor:
