Central Provident Fund (Revised Minimum Sum Scheme) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2003

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(1)(o) of the Central Provident Fund Act, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State, Ministry of Education, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, after consulting with the Central Provident Fund Board, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Revised Minimum Sum Scheme) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2004.

Amendment of regulation 5

2. Regulation 5 of the Central Provident Fund (Revised Minimum Sum Scheme) Regulations (Rg 2) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “2 times the minimum sum applicable to him or more” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “more than 2 times the minimum sum applicable to him”;
(b)	by deleting the words “less than 2 times the minimum sum applicable to him” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “2 times the minimum sum applicable to him or less”;
(c)	by deleting the words “$10,000 or more but less than 2 times the minimum sum applicable to him,” in paragraph (3)(a) and substituting the words “more than $10,000 but less than or equal to 2 times the minimum sum applicable to him,”;
(d)	by deleting the words “$5,000 or more but less than $10,000,” in paragraph (3)(b) and substituting the words “more than $5,000 but less than or equal to $10,000,”; and
(e)	by deleting the words “less than $5,000,” in paragraph (3)(c) and substituting the words “$5,000 or less,”.

Amendment of regulation 7

3. Regulation 7 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the word “The” and substituting the words “Subject to section 15 (6) (b) of the Act, the”.

Amendment of regulation 8

4. Regulation 8 (1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “less than $100” and substituting the words “$100 or less”.
