Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 4) Rules 1998
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Communications hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 4) Rules 1998 and shall come into operation on 12th October 1998.
Amendment of rule 8
2.  Rule 8 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) is amended —
(a)by deleting sub-paragraph (g) of paragraph (2) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
“(g)the vehicle in respect of which the application is made will be registered in the name of the applicant within 12 months of the date of the de-registration of the old vehicle or within such further period as the Registrar may approve;”; and
(b)by deleting sub-paragraph (iii) of paragraph (5) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
“(iii)the vehicle in respect of which the application is made will be registered in the name of the applicant within 12 months of the Registrar’s approval under paragraph (2) or within such further period as the Registrar may approve;”.
