Factories Act
(Chapter 104)
Factories (Shipbuilding and Ship-repairing) (Amendment) Regulations 2004
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 68 and 102 of the Factories Act, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State, Ministry of Education, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Factories (Shipbuilding and Ship-repairing) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2004.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2 of the Factories (Shipbuilding and Ship-repairing) Regulations (Rg 11) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the definitions of “base plate”, “bay”, “bracing”, “frame or modular scaffold”, “guardrail”, “hanging scaffold”, “independent tied scaffold”, “ledger”, “lift”, “putlog”, “reveal tie”, “right angle coupler”, “scaffold”, “sole plate”, “standard”, “suspended scaffold”, “swivel coupler”, “tie”, “toe board”, “transom”, “trestle scaffold” and “tubular scaffold”.
Amendment of regulation 4
3.  Regulation 4 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:
(2)  It shall be the duty of every occupier, contractor or employer who erects, installs, works or uses any plant or equipment to which any of these Regulations applies, to erect, install, work or use such plant or equipment in a manner which complies with the requirements of these Regulations.”.
Deletion of Part VIII
4.  The principal Regulations are amended by deleting Part VIII.
