Public Entertainments (Exemptions) (Consolidation) Order

1.  This Order may be cited as the Public Entertainments (Exemptions) (Consolidation) Order.
2.  The following classes of public entertainments are exempted from the provisions of the Act:
(1)  Athletic meetings and other sporting contests between persons provided by —
(a)a school registered or exempted under the provisions of the Education Act (Cap. 87);
(b)the National University of Singapore;
(c)the Singapore Polytechnic; and
(d)the Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
(2)  Any academic activity undertaken by a school registered or exempted under the provisions of the Education Act where the prior approval in writing has been granted by the Minister for Education or officers authorised by him in that behalf.
(3)  Amateur athletic meetings and sporting contests between persons which are provided by a society registered under the provisions of the Societies Act (Cap. 311).
(4)  The Annual Convocation of and the public lectures organised by —
(a)the National University of Singapore;
(b)the Singapore Polytechnic; and
(c)the Ngee Ann Polytechnic

(5)  Any exhibition or screening of cinematographic films from the film library of the Ministry of the Environment held in any place to which the public or any class of the public has access, whether gratuitous or otherwise.

(6)  All public entertainments organised or sponsored by the Management Committee of the Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre and held in that Theatre.

(7)  Pin-tables installed in the premises of the St. Andrew’s Mission Hospital for Children.

(8)  Transmission of recorded music in the premises of hotels, shopping centres, offices and clinics.
(9)  Transmission of recorded music or live-band music provided at weddings held in HDB void decks or along the roadside in non-HDB areas (including those held in the compounds of private houses).
(10)  Exhibition of films relating to exhibits displayed at exhibition sites and those relating to the promotion of products in shopping centres.

(11)  All pin-tables on board any aircraft belonging to Singapore Airlines Limited.

(12)  Any performance, workshop and lecture organised by The Esplanade Co Ltd in any place to which the public or any class of the public has access, whether gratuitously or otherwise.
(13)  Any exhibition organised and pin-table installed at the Energy Conservation and Exhibition Centre operated by Power Supply Limited

(14)  Exhibition of films in any cinema.
(15)  Any exhibition of the products of industries or of materials or of information relating to any trade or industry.
(16)  Any exhibition of information relating to the sale of land or real property.
(17)  Any transmission of recorded music in restaurants, except during any time when the premises are being operated as a public house.
