Citation
1.  This Order may be cited as the Town Councils (Dissolution of Various Town Councils) Order.
Dissolution of Town Councils
2.  The following Town Councils (each referred to in this Order as a dissolved Town Council) are dissolved:
(a)the Town Council for the Town of Bukit Gombak;
(b)the Town Council for the Town of Nee Soon Central;
(c)the Town Council for the Town of Jurong;
(d)the Town Council for the Town of Bedok;
(e)the Town Council for the Town of Jurong East;
(f)the Town Council for the Town of Holland;
(g)the Town Council for the Town of Bukit Batok;
(h)the Town Council for the Town of Brickworks;
(i)the Town Council for the Town of Bishan Serangoon;
(j)the Town Council for the Town of Eunos Pasir Ris; and
(k)the Town Council for the Town of Toa Payoh.
Revocation of by-laws
3.  Unless otherwise expressly provided in the Schedule, all by-laws made by any of the dissolved Town Councils under the Act shall cease to have effect on 13th January 1997.
Certification of financial statements
4.  The chairman of every dissolved Town Council shall without delay cause to be prepared and certify financial statements showing the moneys, assets and liabilities of the dissolved Town Council as at 12th January 1997 and shall also certify the Statement of Transferable Surpluses after it has been prepared in accordance with rule 4A of the Town Councils Financial Rules (R 1).
Incidental and consequential provisions
5.  --(1) The incidental and consequential provisions in the Schedule shall have effect on 13th January 1997 in respect of the dissolved Town Council specified therein.
(2)  If any question arises as to whether any particular property, right or liability has been transferred from a dissolved Town Council to another Town Council or vested in another Town Council, a certificate under the hand of the Minister shall be conclusive evidence that the property, right or liability was or was not so transferred or vested.
Definitions
6.  For the purposes of this Order, "constituency" means an electoral division specified in the Parliamentary Elections (Names and Polling Districts of Electoral Divisions) Notification (Cap. 218, N 1).
