Citation
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Education Endowment Scheme (Grants) Regulations.
Definitions
2.  For the purposes of these Regulations —
“independent school” means a secondary school which is —
(a)specified in any order made under section 3(1) of the School Boards (Incorporation) Act (Cap. 284A); or
(b)conducted by a governing board constituted under any written law and which is listed under the category “Independent Schools” in the Schedule to the Education Endowment Scheme (Prescribed Schools) Regulations (Rg 1);
“junior college” has the same meaning as in the Education Endowment Scheme (Edusave Merit Bursaries) Regulations (Rg 5);
“special education school” means a school which provides special education for pupils with physical or mental disabilities and which is listed under the category “Special Education Schools” in the Schedule to the Education Endowment Scheme (Prescribed Schools) Regulations (Rg 1);
“training institute” means —
(a)any training institute established under the Institute of Technical Education Act (Cap. 141A); or
(b)any other training institute which is listed under the category “Institutes of Technical Education” in the Schedule to the Education Endowment Scheme (Prescribed Schools) Regulations.
Grants
3.  The income of the Endowment Fund may be paid out and expended for the provision of grants to any independent school, junior college, training institute or special education school to enable it to enhance its quality of education.
Amount of grant
4.  The amount of every grant paid out under regulation 3 is to be determined by the Minister.
Accounts and financial reports
5.  Every independent school, junior college, training institute and special education school in receipt of any grant paid out under regulation 3 must keep such records of accounts and submit such financial reports as the Minister may require to the Ministry of Education.
