(Amendment) Rules 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 36M(2)(t), 75B(3) and 184(2)(q) of the Legal Profession Act, the Minister for Law makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Legal Profession (Modified Application of Act for International Services) (Amendment) Rules 2020 and come into operation on 2 January 2021.

Miscellaneous amendments

2. The Legal Profession (Modified Application of Act for International Services) Rules 2015 (G.N. No. S 700/2015) are amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “High Court” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “General Division of the High Court”:

Second Schedule, paragraphs 9(1) and (3), 10(4) and (5), 12, 13(3), (4), (5), (6), (8), (10) and (11), 14(1), 16 and 18

Third Schedule, paragraph 5(2);

(b)

by deleting the words “the Court” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “the General Division of the High Court”:

Second Schedule, paragraphs 9(1), 12 and 13(5); and

(c)

by deleting the words “Judge of the High Court” in the following provision and substituting in each case the words “Judge sitting in the General Division of the High Court”:

Fifth Schedule, paragraph 8(4) and (8).
