(Traffic Signs) (Amendment)
Rules 2021
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 119 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) (Amendment) Rules 2021 and come into operation on 3 January 2022.
Amendment of rule 8
2.  Rule 8 of the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules (R 33) is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately before the word “ambulance” in paragraph (2)(a), the word “authorised”; and
(b)by deleting paragraph (3) and substituting the following paragraph:
(3)  In this rule —
“ambulance” means a motor vehicle that is specifically equipped for —
(a)the transport on roads of; and
(b)the provision, during such transport, of out‑of‑hospital clinical care to,
sick or injured individuals who require emergency medical treatment;
“authorised”, for an ambulance, means —
(a)being specified in a licence (other than a revoked licence) under the Healthcare Services Act 2020 authorising the use of the ambulance to provide a licensable healthcare service specified in that licence; or
(b)being owned by the Government and used for the purposes of the Singapore Armed Forces or the Singapore Civil Defence Force;
“bus lane” means any full-day or part‑day bus lane.”.
