(MediShield Scheme)
(Amendment) Regulations 2014

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 57 of the Central Provident Fund Act, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 and shall come into operation on 1st March 2014.

Amendment of regulation 3

2. Regulation 3(1) of the Central Provident Fund (Medishield Scheme) Regulations (Rg 20) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting “90” in sub‑paragraph (a) and substituting “92”.

Amendment of regulation 6

3. Regulation 6 of the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2A), the following paragraph:

“(2B) Every person —

(a)	who immediately before 1st March 2014 was insured under the Scheme under paragraph (1);
(b)	who attains the age of 90 years, but is below the age of 92 years, on or after that date; and
(c)	who has money standing to his credit in his medisave account on that date, or is a person for whom the premium is paid by a member,

shall continue to be insured under the Scheme in this Division from that date.”.

Amendment of regulation 7

4. Regulation 7(1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting “90” and substituting “92”.

Amendment of regulation 8

5. Regulation 8 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “or V” in paragraph (1)(a) and substituting the words “, V or VI”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “of the Second Schedule,” in paragraphs (3A) and (3B) and substituting in each case the words “or VI of the Second Schedule, as the case may be,”.

Amendment of regulation 9

6. Regulation 9(1) of the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after “(2A),” in sub-paragraph (b), “(2B),”.

Amendment of regulation 21

7. Regulation 21(1A) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting “90” and substituting “92”.

Amendment of First Schedule

8. Paragraph 1(1) of the First Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after “(2A)” in sub-paragraph (c), the word “, (2B)”.

Amendment of Second Schedule

9. The Second Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after the words “1st December 2008” in the heading of Part IV, the words “but before 1st March 2013”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after the words “1st March 2013” in the heading of Part V, the words “but before 1st March 2014”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after Part V, the following Part:

“Part VI

TABLE SHOWING THE AMOUNT OF
ANNUAL PREMIUM PAYABLE UNDER THE SCHEME
