(Amendment No. 3) Rules 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 111 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2020 and come into operation on 1 January 2021.

Amendment of rule 11

2. Rule 11 of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules (R 14) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “and” at the end of paragraph (a);

(b)

by deleting the words “a private hire car,” in paragraph (b) and substituting the words “a self‑drive private hire car,”; and

(c)

by deleting the full‑stop at the end of paragraph (b) and substituting a semi‑colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraphs:

“(c)

at least once a year where such vehicle is a chauffeured private hire car other than one mentioned in paragraph (d); and

(d)

at least once in the following periods, where such vehicle is a chauffeured private hire car because of re‑registration on or after 1 January 2021, under rule 33 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5), from being a former business service passenger vehicle, private motor car or self-drive private hire car:

(i)	during the period of 15 months after the grant of a licence to use that motor vehicle as a chauffeured private hire car;
(ii)	during each subsequent period of 12 months after the end of the period in sub‑paragraph (i).”.
