Parking Places Act
(Chapter 214)
Parking Places (Parking of Heavy Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2006
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 of the Parking Places Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Parking Places (Parking of Heavy Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2006 and shall come into operation on 28th February 2006.
Amendment of rule 5
2.  Rule 5 of the Parking Places (Parking of Heavy Vehicles) Rules (R 4) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (3), the following paragraph:
(4)  The Superintendent may, in his discretion, waive in whole or in part the fee payable by an applicant under paragraph (2).”.
Deletion of rule 7
3.  Rule 7 of the principal Rules is deleted.
Amendment of rule 8
4.  Rule 8 of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by inserting, at the end of paragraph (1)(b), the word “or”;
(b)by deleting sub-paragraphs (c) and (d) of paragraph (1); and
(c)by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:
(2)  The holder of a vehicle parking certificate shall immediately inform in writing the officer or licensee who issued the vehicle parking certificate to him of the occurrence of any of the events specified in paragraph (1)(a) or (b).”.
Deletion of rule 9
5.  Rule 9 of the principal Rules is deleted.
Amendment of rule 12
6.  Rule 12 of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting paragraph (1); and
(b)by deleting the words “altered, tampered with or” in paragraph (2).
Amendment of Schedule
7.  Item 2 in the Schedule to the principal Rules is deleted.
Savings
8.  Notwithstanding the Parking Places (Parking of Heavy Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2006, rules 7, 8, 9 and 12 of, and the Schedule to, the principal Rules in force immediately before 28th February 2006 shall continue to apply in respect of a vehicle parking certificate which was issued before that date and, which on that date remains in force, until —
(a)it ceases to be valid; or
(b)a replacement vehicle parking certificate is issued.
