Town Councils Act
(Chapter 329A)
Town Councils (Polling for Lift Upgrading Works) (Amendment) Rules 2010
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24I(1)(a) and (b) and (2) of the Town Councils Act, the Minister for National Development hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Town Councils (Polling for Lift Upgrading Works) (Amendment) Rules 2010 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2010.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2(1) of the Town Councils (Polling for Lift Upgrading Works) Rules 2005 (G.N. No. S 772/2005) is amended by inserting, immediately after the definition of “HDB”, the following definitions:
“ “HDB flat” means a house or flat sold under the provisions of the Housing and Development Act (Cap. 129);
“Lease Buyback Scheme” means a scheme administered by the HDB under which a lessee of an HDB flat who has been approved by the HDB to take part in the scheme enters into an agreement with the HDB to reduce the term of the lease of his HDB flat, in consideration of a sum of money part of which is to be used for the purchase of an annuity from the Central Provident Fund Board constituted under the provisions of the Central Provident Fund Act (Cap. 36);”.
Amendment of rule 5
3.  Rule 5 of the Town Councils (Polling for Lift Upgrading Works) Rules 2005 is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “and” at the end of paragraph (2)(b);
(b)by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (2) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:
“(d)any sole purchaser or joint purchasers of such a flat which is the subject of an agreement entered into under the Lease Buyback Scheme.”;
(c)by deleting the word “or” at the end of paragraph (6)(a); and
(d)by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (6) and substituting the word “; or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:
“(c)the beneficiary flat is the subject of an agreement entered into under the Lease Buyback Scheme.”.
