Road Traffic (Traffic Signs)
(Amendment) Rules 2018
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 119 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) (Amendment) Rules 2018 and come into operation on 1 April 2018.
Amendment of rule 7
2.  Rule 7 of the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules (R 33) is amended by deleting paragraph (5) and substituting the following paragraph:
(5)  A signalised pedestrian crossing is indicated by 2 parallel, continuous or broken white lines each of not less than 200 mm in width and spaced not less than 3,000 mm apart from each other, and with the 2 lines running from one edge of the road to the other as shown in diagrams 140(a), 140(e) and 145 in Part III of the Schedule.”.
Amendment of Schedule
3.  The Schedule to the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after diagram 57(d) in Part II, the following diagram:
 
“DIAGRAM 57(e)
 
 
GIVE WAY TO PEDESTRIANS
 
This sign is placed at a signalised junction, and is usually mounted on top of a traffic light. It indicates for right turning motorists to look out for and to give way to adjacent crossing pedestrians.”;
 
 
(b)by inserting, immediately after diagram 59 in Part II, the following diagrams:
 
“DIAGRAM 59A
 
 
“LOOK” MARKING
 
This marking is indicated on the road pavement to remind pedestrians to look out for traffic before crossing the road.
 
 
 
DIAGRAM 59B
 
 
WATCH OUT FOR VEHICLES
 
This sign informs pedestrians to watch out for oncoming vehicles before crossing the road.”;
 
 
(c)by inserting, immediately after diagram 84 in Part II, the following diagram:
 
“DIAGRAM 84A
 
 
CURVE ALIGNMENT MARKER
 
This marking is installed along sharp road bends to indicate to motorists that they are approaching the bends.”; and
 
 
(d)by inserting, immediately after diagram 147 in Part III, the following diagram:
 
“DIAGRAM 147A
 
 
BROADER ALIGNMENT LANE MARKINGS (BALM)
 
These markings are found along bends on expressways and major arterial roads. The markings guide motorists to be better aligned to their lanes.”.
