(Pedestrian Crossings)
(Amendment) Rules 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 121 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) (Amendment) Rules 2024 and come into operation on 1 March 2024.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  In the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules (R 24), in rule 2 —
(a)delete the definition of “bicycle”;
(b)in the definition of “cyclist”, after “a bicycle” wherever it appears, insert “, three‑wheeled pedal cycle, recumbent device”;
(c)in the definition of “pedestrian”, in paragraph (f), after “a bicycle,”, insert “three‑wheeled pedal cycle, recumbent device,”;
(d)replace the definition of “PMD” with —
“ “personal mobility device” or “PMD” means a personal mobility device other than a three‑wheeled pedal cycle or recumbent device;”; and
(e)after the definition of “PMD rider”, insert —
“ “recumbent device” and “three‑wheeled pedal cycle” have the meanings given by rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Bicycles, Three‑wheeled Pedal Cycles, Trishaws and Recumbent Devices — Construction and Use) Rules 2024 (G.N. No. S 157/2024);”.
Amendment of rule 14
3.  In the Road Traffic (Pedestrian Crossings) Rules, in rule 14(1)(a) and (2)(a), after “stop his bicycle,”, insert “three‑wheeled pedal cycle, recumbent device,”.
