Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2002

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10A(4) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2002 and shall come into operation on 15th April 2002.

Amendment of rule 24

2. Rule 24 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules (R 31) is amended —

(a)

by deleting sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (3) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(b)

the fee specified in the Second Schedule —

(i)	where the application is made more than 14 days after the expiration of a certificate of entitlement that expires before 15th April 2002; or
(ii)	where the application is made after the expiration of a certificate of entitlement that expires on or after 15th April 2002.”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (3), the following paragraph:

“(3A) The Registrar may, in his discretion, waive the fee referred to in paragraph (3) (b).”.

Amendment of rule 24A

3. Rule 24A of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (1) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(b)

the fee specified in the Second Schedule —

(i)	where the application is made more than 14 days after the expiration of a certificate of entitlement that expires before 15th April 2002; or
(ii)	where the application is made after the expiration of a certificate of entitlement that expires on or after 15th April 2002.”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (1), the following paragraph:

“(1A) The Registrar may, in his discretion, waive the fee referred to in paragraph (1)(b).”.
