Road Traffic
(Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing)
(Amendment) Rules 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Rules 2020 and come into operation on 1 April 2020.

Amendment of rule 36D

2. Rule 36D of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) is amended by deleting the words “, having a power rating not exceeding 10 kW,”.

Amendment of Twelfth Schedule

3. The Twelfth Schedule to the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules is amended by inserting, immediately after item 4A, the following items:

“4B.

Electric motor cycles and electric scooters, having a power rating exceeding 10 kW but not exceeding 96 kW

[$40 + $1.40 (PR − 10)] × 0.782

4C.

Electric motor cycles and electric scooters, having a power rating exceeding 96 kW

[$160 + $2.40 (PR − 96)] × 0.782”.
