Prevention of Pollution of the Sea
(Air) (Amendment)
Regulations 2012
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 34 of the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea (Air) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 and shall come into operation on 1st February 2012.
Amendment of First Schedule
2.  Appendix I of the First Schedule to the Prevention of Pollution of the Sea (Air) Regulations 2005 (G.N. No. S 134/2005) is amended by deleting sub-paragraph 2.3 of paragraph 2 of the “SUPPLEMENT TO INTERNATIONAL AIR POLLUTION PREVENTION CERTIFICATE (IAPP CERTIFICATE)” and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

Sulphur oxides (SOx) and particulate matter (regulation 14)
 
2.3.1
When the ship operates outside of an emission control area specified in regulation 14.3, the ship uses:
 
 
.1fuel oil with a sulphur content as documented by bunker delivery notes that does not exceed the limit value of:
 
 
.1.14.50% m/m (not applicable on or after 1 January 2012); or ............................... □
 
 
.1.23.50% m/m (not applicable on or after 1 January 2020); or ............................... □
 
 
.1.30.50% m/m, and/or ............................. □
 
 
.2an equivalent arrangement approved in accordance with regulation 4.1 as listed in 2.6 that is at least as effective in terms of SOx emission reductions as compared to using a fuel oil with a sulphur content limit value of:
 
 
.2.14.50% m/m (not applicable on or after 1 January 2012); or ................................ □
 
 
.2.23.50% m/m (not applicable on or after 1 January 2020); or ................................ □
 
 
.2.30.50% m/m ...........................................□
 
2.3.2
When the ship operates inside an emission control area specified in regulation 14.3, the ship uses:
 
 
.1fuel oil with a sulphur content as documented by bunker delivery notes that does not exceed the limit value of:
 
 
.1.11.00% m/m (not applicable on or after 1 January 2015); or ................................ □
