Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Speed Warning Device) (Amendment) Rules 2001
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Speed Warning Device) (Amendment) Rules 2001 and shall come into operation on 16th April 2001.
Amendment of rule 4
2.  Rule 4 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Speed Warning Device) Rules (R 19) is amended —
(a)by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:
(1)  A speed warning device installed in a motor vehicle under these Rules —
(a)shall consist of —
(i)a lamp in front of the driver in a position clearly visible to him; and
(ii)a buzzer in front of him; and
(b)may, subject to paragraphs (2), (3) and (4) and such other terms and conditions as the Registrar may impose, include an additional amber lamp mounted on the roof of the vehicle in a position approved by the Registrar.”;
(b)by deleting sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (3)(a) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
(i)the lamp mounted in front of the driver and the lamp mounted on the roof of the vehicle, if any, each shows a flashing light; and”and
(c)by deleting sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (3) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
(b)when the vehicle is stationary, with its engine running, the lamp mounted in front of the driver and the lamp mounted on the roof, if any, are lit.”.
