Endangered species (Import and Export) Act

Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act (Amendment of Schedule) Notification 2009

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 of the Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act, the Minister for National Development hereby makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification may be cited as the Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act (Amendment of Schedule) Notification 2009 and shall come into operation on 22nd May 2009.

Amendment of Schedule

2. The Appendices of the Schedule to the Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act are amended —

(a)

by deleting the item “Tupaiidae spp.” in Appendix II under the sub-heading relating to the taxon “Tupaiidae Tree shrews” (page 37) and substituting the item “SCANDENTIA spp.”;

(b)

by deleting the item “Cairina scutulata” in Appendix I under the sub-heading relating to the taxon “Anatidae Ducks, geese, swans, etc.” (page 37) and substituting the item “Asarcornis scutulata”;

(c)

by deleting the following items in Appendix III under the sub-heading relating to the taxon “Phasianidae Grouse, guineafowl, partridges, pheasants, tragopans” (pages 39 and 40):

(i)	Arborophila campbelli (Malaysia);
(ii)	Arborophila charltonii (Malaysia);
(iii)	Caloperdix oculeus (Malaysia);
(iv)	Lophura erythrophthalma (Malaysia);
(v)	Lophura ignita (Malaysia);
(vi)	Melanoperdix niger (Malaysia);
(vii)	Polyplectron inopinatum (Malaysia);
(viii)	Rhizothera dulitensis (Malaysia);
(ix)	Rhizothera longirostris (Malaysia); and
(x)	Rollulus rouloul (Malaysia);

(d)

by deleting the item “Geopsittacus occidentalis (possibly extinct)” in Appendix I under the sub-heading relating to the taxon “Psittacidae Amazons, macaws, parakeets, parrots” (page 43) and substituting the item “ Pezoporus occidentalis (possibly extinct)”; and

(e)

by deleting the sub-heading “Myobatrachidae Gastric-brooding frogs” under the taxon “ANURA” (page 50) and substituting the sub-heading “Rheobatrachidae Gastric-brooding frogs”.
