Immigration (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2002

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 55(1) of the Immigration Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2002 and shall come into operation on 17th May 2002.

Amendment of regulation 16

2. Regulation 16 of the Immigration Regulations (Rg 1) is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:

“(2A) Notwithstanding paragraphs (1) and (2), the Controller may, by endorsement on a landing pass, make the pass valid for any number of entries into Singapore during the period of its validity and subject to such conditions as may be imposed.”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after the words “in the form of an endorsement on” in paragraph (3), the words “Form 19A or on”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (3), the following paragraph:

“(4) Every landing pass issued under paragraph (1) shall be subject to the condition that the holder shall not, without the written consent of the Controller, engage in any form of paid employment or in any business, profession or occupation in Singapore (other than as a crew member of the vessel stipulated in the landing pass) during the validity of the landing pass.”.

Amendment of regulation 23

3. Regulation 23 of the Immigration Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (2) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(2) Where the Controller requires security by bond under this regulation, the bond shall be —

(a)	in the case of a single entry landing pass, in Form 20; or
(b)	in the case of a multiple entry landing pass, in Form 20A.”.

Amendment of First Schedule

4. The First Schedule to the Immigration Regulations is amended —

(a)

by deleting the 2nd paragraph in Form 19 and substituting the following paragraph:

“You are hereby permitted to *enter/re-enter and remain in Singapore till ......................... or until the *vessel M.V. ........................./Train ......................... leaves Singapore, whichever is the earlier.”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after Form 19, the following Form:

(c)

by inserting, immediately after Form 20, the following Form:

“FORM 20A

Regulation 23(2)(b)

”.
