Rules 2005

The President hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Pingat Perhidmatan Seberang Laut Pasukan Pertahanan Awam Singapura (Singapore Civil Defence Force Overseas Service Medal) (Amendment) Rules 2005 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 1st December 2004.

Amendment of rule 3

2. Rule 3 of the Pingat Perhidmatan Seberang Laut Pasukan Pertahanan Awam Singapura (Singapore Civil Defence Force Overseas Service Medal) Rules 1993 (G.N. No. 3211/93) is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) An eligible person referred to in rule 2 is a person who at the time he renders the service as specified in rule 4 is —

(a)	a member of the Singapore Civil Defence Force raised and maintained in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Defence Act (Cap. 42);
(b)	a person under the employ of the Government or a statutory body; or
(c)	a member of the public who had voluntarily participated in a service specified in rule 4 under the auspices of the Government.”.

Amendment of rule 4

3. Rule 4 of the Pingat Perhidmatan Seberang Laut Pasukan Pertahanan Awam Singapura (Singapore Civil Defence Force Overseas Service Medal) Rules 1993 is amended by deleting sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (a) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:

“(ii)

for a shorter period if —

(A)	the eligible person dies;
(B)	the eligible person is evacuated owing to wounds or other disabilities suffered as a result of the operations;or
(C)	the Commissioner of Civil Defence so recommends;”.
