(Amendment No. 2) Rules 2021

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Rules are the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 2021.

(2) Rules 2(1) and 3 are deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 2013.

(3) Rules 2(2) and 4 are deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 2018.

Amendment of rule 2

2.—(1) Rule 2(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “and 9B” in the definition of “new vehicle” and substituting the words “, 9B and 9C”; and
(b)	by inserting, immediately after “9AA” in the definition of “secondhand vehicle”, “, 9C”.

(2) Rule 2(1) of the principal Rules, as amended by paragraph (1), is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “and 9C” in the definition of “new vehicle” and substituting the words “, 9C and 10”; and
(b)	by inserting, immediately after “9C” in the definition of “secondhand vehicle”, “, 10”.

Amendment of rule 8

3. Rule 8(7) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “or 9C” in sub‑paragraph (f).

Miscellaneous amendment

4. The principal Rules are amended by deleting the words “or 9C” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “, 9C or 10”:

Rules 8(7)(e) and (g)(i), (8) (definition of “B”) and (8A) (definition of “C”), 8A(5)(b), 33E(5) (definition of “D”) and 33G(2) (definition of “D”).
