Mass Rapid Transit (Railway Protection, Restricted Activities) (Amendment) Regulations 1996

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 42 of the Rapid Transit Systems Act 1995, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Communications, hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Mass Rapid Transit (Railway Protection, Restricted Activities) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into operation on 19th January 1996.

2. Regulation 5(1) of the Mass Rapid Transit (Railway Protection, Restricted Activities) Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “on plan from the edge” in the third line and substituting the words “of the outermost edge”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “(whether above the ground or at-grade)” in the fourth line and substituting the words “(whether on or above the ground)”.

3. Paragraph 1 of the Schedule to the Mass Rapid Transit (Railway Protection, Restricted Activities) Regulations is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “on plan” in the fifth line of sub-paragraph (a) and substituting the words “of the outermost edge”;

(b)

by deleting the words “above the ground or at-grade” in the sixth line of sub-paragraph (a) and substituting the words “on or above the ground”;

(c)

by deleting the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (a); and

(d)

by deleting the full-stop at the end of sub-paragraph (b) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following sub-paragraph:

“(c)	the storing or placing, or causing or allowing the storage or placement of, any goods, material or thing or any solid, liquid or gaseous matter or substance, within 10 metres of the outermost edge of any structure of the Mass Rapid Transit System which is on or above the ground.”.
