Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test)
(Amendment) Rules 1998

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 90 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) (Amendment) Rules 1998 and shall, with the exception of rule 5, be deemed to have come into operation on 30th April 1998.

(2) Rule 5 shall come into operation on 8th May 1998.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Test) Rules (R 21) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the definition of “normal working week”.

Amendment of rule 7

3. Rule 7 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting paragraph (3).

Amendment of rule 8

4. Rule 8 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “registration book” in the third and fourth lines of paragraph (a) and substituting the words “registration document”.

Amendment of rule 11

5. Rule 11 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting “$500” in the last line of paragraph (1) and substituting “$1,000”; and
(b)	by deleting “$500” in paragraph (3) and substituting “$1,000”.

Amendment of rule 13

6. Rule 13 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “registration book” in paragraph (3)(a)(ii) and substituting the words “registration document”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “registration book” in paragraph (4) and substituting the words “registration document”.

Amendment of rule 15

7. Rule 15(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “on a form” and substituting the words “in a manner”.

Amendment of rule 16

8. Rule 16 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “An officer authorised by the Registrar may, during the normal working week of an authorised examiner” and substituting the words “Any person authorised by the Registrar may”.

Amendment of First Schedule

9. The First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting “100(1)” in sub-paragraph (a) and substituting “104(1)”;
(b)	by deleting “100(2)” in sub-paragraph (b) and substituting “104(2)”;
(c)	by deleting “101” in sub-paragraph (c) and substituting “105”;
(d)	by deleting “43 and 105” in sub-paragraph (e) and substituting “45 and 109”;
(e)	by deleting “94(1)” in sub-paragraph (f) and substituting “101(1)”;
(f)	by deleting “100(3)” in sub-paragraph (i) and substituting “104(3)”;
(g)	by deleting “108” in sub-paragraph (j) and substituting “106”; and
(h)	by deleting “46(1) and 97(1)” in sub-paragraph (l) and substituting “48(1) and 101(1)”. [G.N. Nos. S 135/93; S 17/96; S 295/97]
